Today I am playing over on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog. The sketch had rectangles, but I saw the bottles in the July Paper Pumpkin kit and *had* to use them instead. It is a surprisingly clean card for me! Not my usual style, but I needed to get out of my box and be simple for a change. 😁

I did have to pop up the sentiment with dimensionals. I also used the retired High Seas 3-D embossing folder. It makes a nice masculine card without all my usual bling. Clicking on the badge will take you to this challenge #545.

Hope you enjoyed my take on the sketch!

Happy stamping,

Becky

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-91100062291993781702022-02-24T18:10:00.001-05:002022-02-25T21:57:32.437-05:00GDP Challenge #331
Well hello there! How've you been? I am returning after a LOOOOOOONG hiatus with an entry for the Global Design Project Dots & Circles challenge- click on the blue words to go to the GDP site and check out the challenge for yourself!

The card is based on a Jenifer McGuire sample, click here to see her directions. I used Stampin' UP! Thick Basic White for the base, die cut with circles from the Layering Circles die set. The DSP (with the Polka Dots) is SU! Sunshine and Rainbows, and the other circles are punched from card stock with varying sizes of circle punches. The greeting is from the set Special Moments, punched with the Banner Pick-a-Punch for the tail, adhered with dimensionals and I added two adhesive backed sequins. The DSP and stamp set are both items you can get as a gift for Sale-a-Bration when you make a $50 purchase and there are only 5 days left!

My card won't stand up by itself, but when you open it, it looks soooo cool! I had some extra dots, so I had to use them!

So, how'd I do on the challenge? 😂😂

Hope you are inspired to create your own version of this shaped card!

Happy stamping!

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-34364903775728600022020-08-22T21:08:00.001-04:002020-08-22T21:13:01.423-04:00 Slimline & Stitched Saturday
Well howdy! I have spent a few days cruising around the internet to find out that apparently the new trend is slimline cards. Just who decides these things? Is there a survey/notification that I don't get? I haven't made one of these in YEARS. The last one was for thank you cards for the NC Music Educators Honors Chorus clinician and accompanist- I have gone a-hunting and found the picture of that one and stuck it at the bottom of the post. Since this is the new thing, here I have for you a slimline card! The stitching part comes from the dies I used. And who doesn't love three word alliteration? The more the merrier, right? This idea has been percolating in my head and while it was not exactly what I thought I was going to do, I rather like how it turned out. I even got fancy with the picture taking and put in an ink pad and some bling! Woo! The craziness never stops! However, the crooked picture taking apparently doesn't stop either. Sigh. I really thought I had the camera straight. Gotta work on my fancy picture staging, I'm sure there's an online class...or YouTube demo...

I used the Stitched Triangles dies from Stampin' UP! as well as the Artistry Blooms DSP (Desigenr Series Paper, but that takes too long to type...). All triangles were stuck down with the new Stampin' Seal (the regular one). The Blackberry Bliss card measures 9" long and 8" wide- scored at 4". The Magenta Madness piece is 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" and I stamped the large triangle from the The Right Triangle stamp set in VersaMark ink. It wasn't really essential, but I liked the look. Since this piece is heavier, I used the Stampin' Seal Plus to stick this piece down. I'm really liking the new Seals- hard to break the "check mark" habit from the old Fuse, but I'm getting there. The sentiment is from the So Sentimental set and is die cut with a die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

I am on a You-Must-Make-The-Inside-Pretty-Too kick, so I fancied up the inside. Plus, I had some triangles left over...Not too bad, but I probably should have done the triangle on the top AFTER I put the ribbon on. Hindsight and all that.

There you have my newest adventure in making a slimline card. 😁 Hope it inspires you!

Happy stamping! (or in this case, mostly die cutting)

Oh just FYI- Stampin' UP!'s new die cut and embossing machine is GREAT!!!!! The triangles just fall right out! PLUS anyone have trouble getting the Stitched Rectangles to release from the die once cut? Not now! It is so much easier! Truly, truly easier. And this is from a dedicated Vagabond user! The standard size machine will be available on September 1st, the mini one is still delayed due to complications from our new not-friend COVID.

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-68857640968500047152020-08-21T18:28:00.001-04:002020-08-21T18:28:44.642-04:00And we're back!!!
Okay, it's just me, but you know what I mean. 😄 So if you check out the profile, you will see that I have retired from the day job, which is why I can now resume my blogging life. To start off this new chapter, I have for you a fantastic sunflower card featuring the Celebrate Sunflowers and Sunflowers die set from the new Stampin' Up! June 2020-May 2021 catalog. I have helpfully provided a link to my Demonstrator Website where you can view the catalog(s) and conveniently shop on SU!'s new online store. I'm just nice like that. 😂

Directions for making this card come from Jennifer McGuire. Click HERE to be magically transported to her blog to watch her create three split gatefold cards. I changed her directions slightly since my background is not embossed, it's stuck on with adhesive sheet and the sunflower is not symmetrical, but I really wanted to use it, so there you have it. After several attempts and utter failures in trying to create labels for my Stampin' Blends, I found this idea from fellow demonstrator Julie DiMatteo. Click on her name to whisk away for directions. I don't have the exact same label maker she uses, but it worked very well.

Hope you enjoyed your visit here, happy stamping!

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-73009511469672341202016-08-06T12:41:00.000-04:002016-08-06T12:41:08.281-04:00OCC Creative Chemistry 3

Sooo... How've you been? Good, good, glad to hear it. I've been, well, just not posting. Gone so long that this typing your post page is different than the last time I was here. :) Heh. Ah well, I suppose I shall get used to it- then be gone again and they will have changed it all again.

Please note that I WENT OUTSIDE (to my front porch) to take a pretty
picture for your enjoyment. And since I live in NC...it was HOT. So
even though I've been gone forever, see how much I love you guys? :)

I am playing along over at Online Card Classes (if you click the blue words it *should* take you there...that is if I did it correctly...) with Tim Holtz in the Summer of Creative Chemistry. This is the final class in the series, Creative Chemistry 3 and it is awesome! Here is Day 4's (okay, so it is now day 6...I'm a little behind...) collection of samples. Today was all about playing with Distress Crayons. And boy, did I need it! My poor crayons have been sitting all brand new and unloved on their shelf since I got them- which was as soon as possible after their release, so for MONTHS now. I'm pretty sure I heard them crying a couple of times. Sure, I watched a couple of videos that people have done on using them and thought, "well doesn't THAT look fun"...and that was as far as I got. Then I saw that Tim was going to be using them in the class and said to myself, "self, (heh) this is what you need to get you out of your non-crayon using slump. go forth and actually DO the lessons and learn how to use these here crayons before they revolt and go live with someone who will love them." (have you seen the kid's book The Day the Crayons Quit? It is very funny and there is a sequel The Day the Crayons Came Home. So I knew that it was possible that my crayons would leave if I didn't get to it.) The whole class is great, but just the day on the Distress Crayons was worth it! Tim shows you a side by side comparison of the Distress Crayons and Gelatos (which you know I have...but I have actually used them a couple of times...) and really gets in depth about how to use the Distress Crayons and why he wanted them and what they do. I will warn you now, they are quite addictive! Plus Tim told us that Ranger will be making them in all of the Distress colors!! (right now there are 3 sets, but by the end of the year there will be 10) *swoon* Here is a close up look at the individual projects.
Whilst browsing on the Paper Artsy blog, I discovered that topic 19 is faces. So immediately I said, "I can't draw a face, so I won't even try. Grump, grump, grump, mutter, mutter..." However, I have no hesitations about looking at faces other people have drawn, so continuing to scroll down the posts, I discovered that the Lovely and Wonderful Leandra had included a video by Dina Wakley showing how to draw a face. Thinking, "this is going to be a disaster, *grump grump mutter mutter*" I pulled out my sadly neglected art journal (so VERY VERY neglected that it does not even need capitals as there are only two and a half pages that have anything on them-the only other page that had anything was ripped out in a fit of *YUCK* and has not been touched since, but I digress) with not very high hopes. HOWEVER, Dina is a fantastic explainer and demonstrator at face making. And so you see here a pretty human looking face. *after redrawing the eyes a few times to stop her looking like an extra from an alien movie* I am well pleased with my first face attempt since about, oh, let's say age 10. Mayhap I shall endeavor to create another face (or two or three) and finish them and perhaps *shudder* even write something on the page...Thanks Leandra for posting that video link, so I can say that this was inspired by you! I'm thinking I need to draw some more faces...but Dina says to work on a background that is not too dark or heavy, so I need to make some backgrounds...onward to stencils and ink and paint! WOO!
As promised (or threatened, whichever way you choose to take it...) here is the plaid one. I used the Brushstrokes background stamp from SU! and two shades of gray inks- Archival Watering Can and Stayz-On Dove Gray. Not digging the big gap where I failed to line up the stamp, and the lines faded out there a little too much but I figure I will cover that up with a sentiment or something later. The inks on top are all Distress- Abandoned Coral (which is covering up the SU! Tangelo Twist that I originally put on there), Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio (covering the original Twisted Citron-hey covering up the ink worked once, right?), and Mermaid Lagoon. I'm thinking it would be fun to do some masking and inking right on the stamp combined with some masking and inking on the card stock too. Might be a tad harder to line up, but wonky plaid is still plaid, right? :)Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-45794745547841402232015-07-28T18:16:00.001-04:002015-07-28T18:16:51.048-04:00Onlinecardclasses Background Check: Retro Resist

Oh my goodness. Day two project on day two. WHAAAT?!!! You know how you find all these new, shiny techniques and all the old ones just kind drift off to the back of your mind and sit there all sad and unloved? No? Just me then? Oh, okay. :) This is the perfect example. How could I forget this great technique? It is so much fun and really cool looking too. I didn't really choose the best background stamp to show off the tech, but I like it, it makes me happy and it is above all else PURPLE. Sorry, there was just a smidge of "so there" in that comment. Apologies. But it is purple. And awesome. Heh. Well, SU! Blackberry Bliss to be exact. :) This was only my second attempt I know, amazing, right?!? using a text stamp from Wendy Vecchi and a cover-a-card stamp from Impression Obsession. And I like it. Again with the "so there" tone. Sorry! Heh. The first try is interesting...same background text but the top stamp is the logs cover-a-card and instead of the text appearing in the back of the logs, it looks like they are in front. Probably couldn't do it again if I tried. Well, maybe, I think it is that the logs don't cover enough of the text. But I like it anyway. Yay! A two for two liking! And I may be back a little later with the plaid stamping- I have a stripy background that will either be super cool or super, well, not cool. Will let you know...here is the logs and text sample.
Heyla to blogland! It is day one of the Background Check class at Online card classes and was it a doozy! I managed to make ONE of the billionty (okay really 10, but still...) background samples from today. PLUS I am actually putting it in the gallery! WOOT! Go me! I haven't put anything in the gallery since the first classes I took! So excited! Hopefully I will keep up with class this time, at least I did one
sample, right? That is better than none which is my usual thing with
class. Watch the videos and make the stuff about a month after class is
over. Sigh. I blame that work thing. I would have SO much more
energy if I could just skip that work thing and stay home and stamp.
Well, actually, I know me and I would probably just end up watching
movies and shows on Netflix (streaming is great...for making me lose
track of time and binge watch everything...) or reading, or watching the
class videos and making the projects two months later...Heh. Yeah,
let's be realistic here. :)
This is the VersaMark on inked background. I used SU! inks and as you can see the stamping turns darker, just like VersaMark on CS. Pretty, but I think I have to snag me some of the inks that Jennifer used, those were amazing. Don't know where I will put them, but let's worry about THAT later. If you want to find out about it, head over and register for the class- it is TOTALLY worth it (they didn't pay me to say that or anything, I just really love these classes)! Just don't ask me how many times I took the picture of the background. LOTS. And it is still a little off. But it is less blurry. Really. Look, just trust me on this one, okay? Perhaps I need to take a using-the-stupid-camera class... thanks for stopping by, happy stamping! :)Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-71975691239243525012015-04-23T18:34:00.002-04:002015-04-23T18:34:15.941-04:00Paper Artsy theme #7 Niches

AND I have had this idea about using the round containers from retired SU! buttons as shadowboxes so this theme of niches was the just the lightning bolt (see, I told you it was a real thing) I needed to go off and be creative. As an added bonus, I was able to use the one non-Christmassy Paper Artsy set that I own! Oh- don't worry, I have a few more sets on the way (and I can't WAIT to get my hands on them!!!) I even remembered to take a few along-the-way-photos! So here we go!
Nope, didn't take a pic of the stamped insert in progress...oh well. First up, painted the inside of the frame with Seedless Preserves Distress Paint just because I could. Then stamped and colored the insert piece. Stamped with black Archival and colored with Dyan Reavely's sprays in water brushes. And yes, there were masks stamped and cut out even for the sprangly flowers!! Glued the insert into place with matte Multi-Medium. Then Glue-n-Seal to adhere the paper pieces onto the frame. Next up we have Ranger's Texture Paste (which really looks like frosting as you are applying it...don't use it when you are hungry...heh. heh. heh.) applied in varying thickness and stamped with the leaves and the egg looking thingys from Darcy's set 14. Let it dry and then washed a mix of Gathered Twigs Distress Paint and Perfect Pearl water over it. The Pearlyness didn't really show, so once dry
out came my only pot of Treasure Gold- White Fire. I am now officially addicted to this stuff. And yes, two more pots are on the way. :) The round containers started out plain clear plastic, but I got a little carried away with the regular old craft paint. I have a dabber top on this particular bottle and it left the fine bubbly texture- especially since I have NO patience and heat gunned it. Yep. Just a little, didn't
want to melt the plastic or anything.. It does tend to flake off, but it's not going to be handled so it is fine. Plus, it adds some more cool texture. I then add a dash of Potting Soil Archival and more White Fire. (soooo addicted...)
Not sure if that is a TH bottle or a random one I picked up somewhere. It's filled with some micro bead shinys. the butterfly is a woodcut covered in embossing powder with wire for the body and antenna.
Used some Wendy Vecchi embossing powder on my letters and of course got speckles on the wood block part on one. Well, we can't have speckles on only one, but do you know how hard it is to make random speckles of embossing powder on purpose?!? Solution? More Treasure Gold!! Then of course I got some on the letters- and sadly didn't like that so back to the embossing powder! By now there are at least 5 coats of that stuff on those letters...and the green one actually started out red!
Added some paint to a word band, tied it on with ribbon, stuck the cups in place and thought, "that corner needs something, but what?" Look through the stash, find a thin chipboard gear butterfly (that I had forgotten was in there!!) spray it with Perfect Pearl water and cover with Distress Paints. Dry with heat tool (NO patience, remember?) and get sad because it's not shiny anymore. :( Wink of Stella!! Yay! Still not shiny enough...Glossy Accents!!
Woot!

I have been stalking the Paper Artsy blog for quite some time now and finally got the courage (heh- canvas title, see what I did there?) to put my name in the hat for the #3UP. Then was excited and a little worried and excited that my name got picked! I decided to take the theme of Deconstruction, because I really, really like breaking stuff, so much so that it would be my dream job to break stuff all day. :)

Sadly, I don't have any of the Paper Artsy Fresco paints (birthday is a-comin' so that won't be a problem for too much longer...) so I did the best color matching as possible. I used a combination of Distress Ink sprays and paints, Stampin' UP! inks and regular old craft acrylic paints. Did I write down the colors I used? Of course not. Audible sigh. I also was having such fun destroying things that I failed to take any step by step photos. Another audible sigh. Still, I had a BLAST with this.

First step was to paint the base layer on the canvas. I do remember that I inked it which turned out to not be such a good idea...heat gun to the rescue...sorta...well, dry enough to work with at any rate. I then proceeded to rip, cut, tear and beat the canvas with a hammer. Seriously. Well, Tim's texture hammer, but it still smashed the heck outta that canvas! My favorite part got covered with the box that I stuck in the big hole...shoulda put that a little lower, cause I had totally bashed the frame and it looked awesome!! You'll just have to trust me on this one. Scraping the point of my Cricut tweezers across the canvas was way fun too.

The butterflies used to be a soft drink can and the bird was some random packaging. I think the black netting used to hold Boomwhacker tuned percussion tubes (I'm a music teacher by day) and the girl is some random fabric. I am now officially hooked on deconstruction- after I was done I kept thinking, "Now what ELSE do I have that I can destroy?!?"- it's a little frightening. But only a little. OH! I own two Paper Artsy stamp sets (well, now three, but the other one hadn't arrived before the deadline...one day after, but not before. Isn't that always the way?) and they were both Christmasy. So I was very pleased (would that be "chuffed" across the pond?) to be able to use them on this very non-Christmasy canvas!! Go me!! :) Thanks to the great folks at Paper Artsy for letting me play along, and if you stuck around through all that inane prattle, here are some close ups to reward you! :)
But I am back to show you some new storage and it rocks!

I love the storage options available from Stamp-n-Storage! And before you ask, no, I don't work for them, but I wish I did! I have, starting on the bottom left, the old style lock down punch holder, the Slim ink pad holder (72) and the Standard holder (60). On top of that from the left is the new lock down punch holder (and it is amazing! The SU! tag topper punches or large border punches (like the stars and hearts) will fit in the center row and the other punches will fit anywhere! In the old holder you could only put the two smaller sizes in the top and bottom rows.), then there is the Petite ink holder (48) and in it are the MINI DISTRESS PADS!!! Woot!! Now they aren't in a box! To make them fit, I purchased the spacers that are supposed to go in the Blendabilities holder for washi tape. But I didn't like them there. So I moved them and I do like this! YAY! The last two items are the Blendabilities holder (but since that product line is discontinued- sad face- it now has aquapainters filled with Dyan's sprays) and the half shelf on top of the punches. I also have a three shelf stamp shelf and another half shelf on the other side of the room. But these were the most exciting. Well, to me anyway! :) Windows? Who needs windows?!? I gots me a wall of punches and ink to look at! yay! Here is a closer-up of the mini distress pads...

Room for expansion! (or to store the new colors in big pads until they come out with the minis...heh.) I am pretty sure that the tins on the top will be replaced with another 48 distress pad holder, but hubby was already frowning about the two orders I placed, so give it another month... :) And Stamp-n-storage has free shipping too! Yay and woot! Plus a lot of other storage options, so if you need storage go check them out- reasonably priced and very high quality. Hope that helps anyone in need of storage options! :) I really need to see if I can work for them, right? heh. :) Thanks for stopping by, let me know what you think!

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-51203549461220906912013-03-28T14:46:00.001-04:002013-03-30T13:06:22.136-04:00WOYWW?
There is a bunch of goodness (yes, goodness even though it is in piles) on my desk this week. There is a paper holder with gorgeous DSP from Stampin' UP!, my Paper Pumpkin (also SU!) which I have opened, just not put together yet, two cards and some ink sprayed rose trim, a really cute door shrine that I have been working on for two months-it might be finished one day, hiding under the pile of plastic baggies filled with colored UTEE (more about those later) and a stray piece of paper are some of Dyan Reaveley's new stamps! (Woo! Yes, yes, I did have to brag. Heh.) And finally, the colorful little canvases in the front. Ooohh, they were FUN!!!

The inspiration for my melty science was this video on Ranger's blog on making little canvases covered with UTEE- click here to see it for yourself. I thought, "Hey I've got canvases, I've got UTEE, but I don't have the Melting Pot add-in colors or the Texture Treads, hmmm. Guess I'll put it off for another day." A few nights later (well a few months and a few nights)the thought popped in my head that okay, I don't have melt art colors to mix in but I DO have ink refills! And I don't have the texture treads but I DO have rubber stamps (just a few- snerk). So the experiment was born. I tried Stampin' Up refills- they are great, just be ready to look at the resulting color and go how did THAT happen?!? For instance, I put in Rich Razzleberry (a pretty dark red-purple) and it came out red. And then there was the Real Red that turned NEON ORANGE!!

I kid you not! Bizarre. I also tried a Distress refill in Mowed Lawn- very pretty and a retired Stampin' UP! craft (pigment ink)refill in Daffodil Delight- looks more mustardy and you lose the translucence of the clear UTEE, but still neat. DO NOT use any refill that is alcohol or solvent based. Unless of course you like fires and explosions and toxic fumes. Not saying from experience :) Just common sense. This time. :)

Now to finish embellishing the canvases and pull them together to hopefully match the really cool looking idea I've got spinning in my head...we'll see how that turns out! If you are in the UK, then I guess you'd be going back over the pond, since you came over here to peek at my silly ramblings...err...anyway!) to Julia the Queen of the desks. Thanks for stopping by! Here is my latest project...50 gingerbread invitation cards for a friend of mine at work. Covered the dining room table (oh darn, guess we'll have to go out to eat! heh.) and hubby's response? "Hey you made a tablecloth!" Yes, yes I did. The card idea came from a challenge from my friend to make a card that included wrapping paper. Every single one of those gingerbread men are stickled to the nines. Here is a closer look at them. And yes, thanks for asking, my hand does hurt! :)

The gingerbread man was cut from my Cricut (Thank goodness! Can you imagine hand cutting 50 of these guys? eeww.) Stuck the wrapping paper on then ran through the Vagabond (I've decided to call her Vicki)using a T!m Holtz embossing folder. I may have mentioned before my slight addiction to embossing folders...oh, and T!m. heh.
The original challenge was to make a Christmas card that used wrapping paper, but you could not use any shade of red or green. Here is my original challenge card.
The snowman is T!m's cut once with the wish and once without. Painted the wish man with Adirondack Pearl Paint Dabber and inked the hat, arms, and nose of the other with Distress Stains. cut out and glued the hat, arms, and nose on and made the scarf by sticking a piece of wire between two colors of Stampin' Up! ribbon. I adhered a piece of SU! designer series paper to the back of the wish and filled in the spaces with Glossy Accents. I found out the hard way that if you have leftover brown ink on your fingers and you wipe off excess Glossy Accents from the word wish you get a not-so-lovely yellowish staining of your Glossy Accents. sigh. I guess I'll keep this one for a sample. The word was covered in stickles (love that bling!) I put a little bit of stickles on the hat. The wrapping paper was adhered to the card front and then Vicki (the Vagabond- remember?) embossed the snowflakes with the SU! Northern Flurry folder. Now I have a plan for a card with ornaments, I just have to find T!m's "joy" die. But first I have to finish my December calendar! Thanks for stopping by- hopefully I won't be gone as long this time! Happy stamping to all and to all inky fingers!
Woo! With 34 minutes remaining in Day 8 I get the tags done and photographed and posted, yay me! I am also including a shot of what happens when you don't follow directions and are impatient and decide to dry the crackle paint with a heat gun even though it doesn't have that "skin" on it yet AND Tim expressly told you not to... yep, huge crater cracks and the color is even a little off.
There. Are you happy? It's a mess-well not as bad as I have had it. But a mess with three finished technique tags. And a pile of cut in half manilla folders for turning into art at some very far off future date. Veeeery far off. However, I'm only one day late posting the tags for the online class so huzzah for me! Maybe I'll get today's done and posted on the same day. But don't hold your breath. I'd hate for you to be waiting and turn all blue and pass out. :) Heh. So here is a closer view of the tags.

These are from day 7. All about embossing. Sadly, there will not be any from day 6 as it requires the use of the fabulous and hard to get Distress Markers. So since I didn't want to be Cheaty McCheaterton I haven't done those tags. But I will, oh yes, I will. I will have those distress markers and then I'll take over the world! MWAAHAHA!! oh- sorry. got a bit carried away. Off to hop among the desks, (click HERE if you don't know about this desk-hop lark) and if you visited me last week, never fear, I am on my way to see you right now. I promise. And a week late isn't too bad is it? Right! Off we go!Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-83247966397120105802012-03-26T11:59:00.003-04:002012-03-26T12:01:01.480-04:00More class tags and yep, they are days late So now that we are on day 6 of the class I have finally gotten around to
posting days 4 and 5. That whole having to go to work thing is just
yuck. Why can't I just stay home and play? Oh right, the whole paying
for the house and eating thing. Not to mention the purchasing of the
stash. Now I remember. Here are day 4's fabby tags with 10% less cheat-yness! ...yeah, I totally made up that number...it just sounded good...

And now for something completely different...okay, a little different...I give you day 5's super fantabulous tags. And let me just say that the second one and the last one I had to do about a kerbillion times and they still never came out as good as Tim's. Sigh. Guess that's why he gets the big bucks. :)

I'm looking at these and wondering why the first tag in both photos looks shorter than the other two. If you look really closely they seem to grow in size from left to right and that's just weird because they are all the same size in person! Yep, weird. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did making them! Thanks for stopping by!Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-22921285937965872752012-03-21T17:26:00.001-04:002012-03-21T18:39:39.142-04:00What's On Your Workdesk WednesdayAfter a ridiculously long hiatus this is what's on my workdesk:

glorious, inky, stampy goodness. Yay! I'm taking Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 101 online class and if you aren't then stop reading this and go immediately to www.onlinecardclasses.com and sign up! It has only been three days and I've already learned a whole bunch of really cool stuff. So go sign up. What you see here is Day 3's techniques. And I have to fess up...the two center tags are a little, well, cheat-y because you see I own exactly two colors of Archival inks. Black and Coffee. So I cheated on the first one by adding the colorful parts with the Distress inks and on the second by using (gasp!) Stayz-On inks. but tag one and four are done with the correct products. Here's a closer look at the tags:

Seriously, you need to take this class. It's already awesome! Here's Day two's technique tags:

So I'm off to post my taggy goodness on the class site, and oh yeah to eat dinner (which I did not have to cook...yay!) and to peek at desks. If you are wondering about this Workdesk thingy, hop over to Queen Julia's blog to learn all about it! Have an inky fun week!Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-77999076783102810422011-11-10T20:03:00.000-05:002011-11-10T20:03:10.881-05:00WOYWW and as usual it's Thursday before I actually get it posted...

Such good intentions: took the picture late Tuesday evening as I knew the desk was NOT going to change before time to post on Wednesday, uploaded to the computer (which of course involved uploading the 200-odd pictures of my last Orlando vacation that I forgot were on there, in addition to a step-by-step photo direction for a project for Stamp Camp and then having to sort out which pictures went in which file) thought about pre-typing the post but it was late and past my bedtime since unfortunately I have to be up at the butt-crack of dawn to get to work (well, more like the upper back of dawn since we changed the time back, but still TOO early) but at least that much was done. Wednesday rolls around and do I even vaguely remember that I needed to post? Of course not! So I sit at my desk and merrily clean away all the previous clutter and proceed to make more clutter AND 8, yes count 'em 8 cards! Woo! Unfortunately (or fortunately if you want to spare your eyes) I didn't take a pic of the desk when there was a GINORMOUS pile of torn music paper and the backing of sticky tape but trust me, it was ginormous. Took three attempts before everything was properly trashed. Oh wait, I mean thrown away, 'cause trashed is what it looked like before... Off to hop among the desks, pop over to Queen of Desks Julia if you've no idea what I'm blathering on about. But just to keep myself honest, here is a pic of the current desk, which is almost, but not quite, as bad as the original pic- at least there is finished project, right? Right. I'll keep telling myself that...
Every time I think of it I start to giggle. Because, a)they expected the house to be haunted, and b)it was a little more haunted. So does that means there were a few more ghosts? Or unexplained noises? At what point do you say, "Okay, this house is haunted just the right amount. We'll take it." I mean where do you draw the line?
The base is one of the tags from the SU! Two tags Sizzix die. I cut 6 of them and stuck them together with Xyron to add some stability to the base. It is covered with random splotches of Craft ink and then several layers of UTEE are melted on, cooled, then Perfect Pearls are dusted over and more UTEE melted on. The house is a Wendy Vecchi Art Part covered with Distress Stains, a Tim hitch fastener serves as the doorknob (yeah, it's a little big, but I liked it), and K&Company ghost stickers serve as the happy haunts. Hope it gave you a smile!

ps: The actual line from the story is "...they've just moved into a new house and it's a little more haunted than the seller's disclosure indicated." but all that wouldn't fit. :)Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-14627948110130748672011-09-18T13:38:00.000-04:002011-09-18T13:38:51.712-04:00Simon Says...STEAMPUNK!

Here we have a Small Box o' Steampunk. It is one of the boxes out of Tim's Configurations covered in tissue tape and then the inside is papered with gear paper from a DCWV stack called Tattered Time (it's amaazing paper). Inked the edges with my Copics and then filled the inside with random steampunky goodness. There is an Art Parts key and shoe complete with white spats(quite dandy!), a bottle cap filled with 7 Gypsies gears and a spinner hand all sealed in with Glossy Accents (and let me tell you haw impatient I was for that to dry!!), plus some ieadology gears and a chain tassel and some random little keys-they might be 7 Gypsies, I've had 'em for a while. Oh yeah, and a dangly light bulb hanging from a 7 gypsies sticky hooky thing. And those jump rings were a bear to get through the bulb and then closed onto the hooky thing. Much fussing and dropping of the ring and then the shoe fell out and the bottle cap came unstuck and then rethinking of the glue for those items and you get the idea! But all in all quite a cute little box o' steampunk. Now how it's going to fit back in the configurations box is a horse of a different color... but since it's the only piece of the box I've done, then that's okay! WOO HOO! On the right you see some stained and inked and stamped pages for my Wendy V. project and on the left you see a pile of finished and nearly-finished-if-my-package-from-Stamper's-Anonymous-would-just-get-here! pieces. Nope, not gonna show them until the whole thing is finished-I'm a meanie, I know! :) But at least you can see progress is being made and there is a hope of finished art! Even further on the left is a stack of stamps in the binder-type thingies I use for unmounted/clear. I very cleverly did not show the unholy pile of grunge scraps that are also sitting on my desk. Or the towering stack of stuff piled on my paper cutter. Which I suppose I will have to move so I can get to the paper cutter. Oh well. At least this way it looks clean! I'm off for a romp around the desks (click here to be whisked off to The one and only Julia, Queen of Desks to see what I'm on about) and to work on my project and maybe even finally get back to doing some challenges! It's great to have my good friend Mojo back! He's been gone for a while now. And every time I say or hear or read "Mojo" I immediately think of the Powerpuff Girls cartoon and the monkey villain Mojo Jo-jo! He's my favorite. "I am bad. I am evil. I am Mojo Jo-jo!" Plus he got to wear a really cool purple cape that blew in the wind even when he was inside his lair and there wasn't any wind! And on that note, I'm really off now! :)

Okay, no I'm not... this is what I walked in and found on my desk about two weeks ago...
I have three of them and apparently this one was bored. Or just needed to hammer something-which I can totally understand and relate to. Either way, it was quite amusing to see. And it was on a Wednesday, but I didn't have the time to blog it then, so here it is now. Enjoy!Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-17448522559856196862011-09-04T21:50:00.000-04:002011-09-04T21:50:37.295-04:00I got to play with Wendy! Woo!

Yes! THE Wendy Vecchi! And it was a grand adventure and tons of fun. Especially fun because Craft Room 42 has been pretty unused for a while. No mojo, no get-up-and-go-make-something-anyway, no NOTHING. And here I am with several cool idea books not to mention all the goodness available on the web, oh and a Stamp Camp coming up this weekend! Just haven't felt the art. But a day with Wendy will change all that for sure! Inspired? Goodness me yes. Her stuff is great and so is she, so kind and laid back. I'm not a laid back teacher, not even a little bit, not even in my "real" job which is...teaching! So now I want to be like Wendy when I grow up. :) Well, not the part about having been a nurse, I know I couldn't do that!! I'll just take the art part. My Mom and my friend Amber went with me to the class (it was a good thing she went, she has a Garmin GPS and that thing is cool!)and we made the two fantastic things that you see featured here.
Couldn't stay for the final class, but got the kit and woo!! I'm so glad I did, 'cause it's amazing! Will show you later, 'cause it's (almost) on it's way to my bestest friend for her VERY late birthday present(just over two months! I'm a stinky friend! But last year her Christams present got to her a month early, so that's okay right? C'mon. Let me have this!!)and it's only fair that she gets to see it first. But it rocks. A lot. Even if I do say so myself. (And you know what? I think I will. Say it myself that is. It rocks.) It was really hard to let it go, I was very sad, but I consoled myself with purchasing the other needed supplies to make me one too, and now everything is shiny and happy. Of course you do know I had almost everything needed right? Only missing three things. All because I am the queen of art supply purchasing and, well, let's just call it what it is, shall we? hoarding But it's all organized. So not so bad. Love the retail therapy!
I'm off to(see the wizard...sorry...couldn't help it)get started on my project so when the missing three things arrive from Stampers Anonymous (even if I do hit the lottery, I'd probably still have to work because Ted and Michelle, Ranger, and Stampin' UP! would get all my money!) all that will be left is the final stamping, cutting and assembling. I'm all excited just thinking about it! Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15513461511347638461noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5499701456959101442.post-7519429501340787282011-08-07T14:57:00.000-04:002011-08-07T14:57:16.693-04:00Oh my gosh...a post!Hopefully there are a few of you who will read this seeing as I have been away for a long time. I'd use the summer vacation excuse except that I've been back at school since July 6th, so I guess I'll use the back-at-work-bleah excuse. Surprisingly, there has been quite a bit of crafting, but none for me. All gifts for others. And of course still way behind on some. So here are the last six months of my chicken calendar for your enjoyment. Mayhap I'll get back in the blogging groove. But I'll most likely just sit on the couch and play Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (oh the truth about what I've been doing slipped out! whoopsy! Those darn Lego Pirates are just so cute!! Especially when you get eaten by a shark...or smash one of them and they fall to little lego pieces...it's hysterical! Or maybe I'm mental. Nah, I think it's pretty funny...but would I even know if I was mental?) Anyway..on to chickens which are cute. My personal favorite is the three piece rock outfit with a smokin' hot redhead on drums. (Yeah, I've watched Scott Pilgrim vs the world a few too many times)
As you can see, this is not my actual desk. And the reason that I haven't shown you the desk itself is because it's boring. There is no project in progress, no stack of cards done, no new organization, not even any stamps that are being unmounted because...TADA...I've finished them!! Huzzah and thrice! Yep, all (okay, fine...I still have 5 sets of Christmas left to do. Are you happy now? Just waiting on the cases to put them in. And NO I'm not unmounting all 25 of my alphabet sets either. So there.) of my SU! stamps have been unmounted, tack-it over glued, and put away. So to share with you my friends today I have a nifty calendar thingy to keep up with the Challenges that I, umm, er, hardly ever take part in. Well in theory I take part, the project just doesn't always get out of my head and onto card stock...but in my head, every one of these challenges is done and if I may say so, and I may, they are quite darn good! I made the magnets with the I-top brad maker and let me tell you, it is way too fun! So I'm off (yes, we know I'm off...I mean I'm going...) to hop around the desks and see some lovely interesting things. Have a great Wednesday (and really, who said it could be Wednesday already?!? Wasn't it just Wednesday? Where'd my week go?) If you'd like to take part, hop on over to Julia, the Duchess of Desks and join in!
